Live Video Merged with 3D Animation-Virtually Shows Remarkable Changes

Fresh off a unanimous approval by the Coastal Commission in October 2009, the revitalization plan for Dana Point Harbor is picking up momentum and now can begin focusing on Phase I of the plan.

The first phase will focus on the commercial core and include new designs for increased parking, a launch ramp, shopping, restaurants and “Festival Plaza”, which will be an open gathering area for public use and special events.

Focus 360 created a video that helped the City of Dana Point and all of the decision making bodies clearly understand the changes that are being proposed within the Harbor.  The goal for the video was to show what the proposed changes would look like in context to the existing site and structures and illustrate there would be minimal impact to existing business owners and more importantly how all the business owners would be integrated into the new plan.

Our initiative was to capture on site video of the existing condition of a number of key areas that were to be enhanced and then animate in 3D those proposed changes and merge the two together.  This completed 3D Video allowed all concerned parties to fully understand the transformation that would be taking place well in advance of any actual work starting on the project site.

We are very pleased with the collaboration that occurred between our client, the Focus 360 creative team and all the state and local agencies that were involved in the process.  We are thrilled that by working together, we were able to develop a 3D video animation that told the entire story of the revitalization plan and yielded the exact results we were shooting for; a unanimous approval to move forward.
