Using 3D Animation to Demonstrate Construction Phasing

When our client approached us for a new project opportunity that needed a unique 3D animation video to help sell the approval board, we were eager to hear about how we could help.  As we brainstormed with our client we realized all of our creative juices would need to be flowing for this one and with only two weeks until delivery; we jumped right in and started the process.

It became clear very quickly that we needed to offer more then just a life-like representation of what the finished project would look like, but more importantly how the construction phasing and on site functionality would work knowing there is a functioning hospital with emergency room directly across the street.

The challenge was to simulate the major construction stages with timeframes which included earthwork, material handling, concrete pour and truck access and flow.  These were big areas of concern for the approval board since this was an active community that would need to be uninterrupted as much as humanly possible during construction.

We were able to show the construction site activated and in context to the existing street and hospital next door.  The video effectively showed the various stages that were occurring within the full construction cycle and how the trucks would access the project site every day with the existing day to day traffic factored in.

The thoughtful construction plan our client developed to allow for the least amount of interruption during development is what was important for the approval board to understand and virtually see with their own eyes. The video we created simply helped visualize how the construction phases would work and instead of using a power point approach to describing the plan.  The use of 3D animation video and motion graphics to tell this detailed story turned out to be an important differentiator in helping our client win the business.

This was another great opportunity for the focus 360 team to develop a presentation that illustrated not only how a future project would look, but also function.
